The UK needs to deliver 250,000 homes a year to meet current demand and the emerging build-to-rent sector is seen as one solution to closing the gap. At the same time offsite construction is increasingly viewed as critical to helping solve the skills shortage and issues around lack of quality and efficiency.

This conference aimed at investors, developers and architects will explore the build-to-rent sector, the challenges affecting the delivery of quality new homes, and the role of offsite construction in delivering build-to-rent homes and social housing.  It will examine issues such as the skills shortage and quality, with case studies showing why developers are investing in offsite construction techniques.

Speaker, Bill Dunster, founder of ZedFactory, will be giving a tour of the Zedpod, launched at last year’s Ecobuild and now located at BRE’s Innovation Park.

 Zedpod

ZEDpods provide first homes for young people and key workers - that can be erected in a few days above existing parking lots close to amenities and jobs. The idea enables responsible local car park owners to provide affordable homes for key workers without using land already allocated for affordable homes. The pods can either be purchased from ZEDpod or leased.
